Problem solving - math related

I have a math problem to solve. It's basic but I'm having difficulty figuring this out. I've had help with this and been given different equations with different answers. Figured I would ask our math residents of the OT Lounge.
Given:
1. Group is moving at a pace of 112 steps per minute at a 28 inch step.
2. Group is 30 yards in length
3. Point A to Point B is 50 yards in length
Question: How much time will it take for the group to cross from Point A to B? Starting with the first person beginning at Point A and the last person crossing Point B.
Thanks for the help! The problem was quickly solved.

So how long will it take to go 110 yards?
about 1.25 minutes
Eta: it's 80 yards, I'm an idiot

30 yards = 1080in
50 yards = 1800in
When the first person is at point A, the last person is 2880in from point b
2880÷28= 102.857 steps
102.857÷112=0.92 minutes or 55.1 seconds
50 yards = 1800in

Length to move is 80 yards = 240 feet = 2,880 inches
28 in/step * 112 step/min = 3,136 in/min
2880 / 3136 = answer in minutes
Multiply by 60 to convert to seconds
Round up to nearest whole second

Too simple. I also just rounded it down to 55 sec flat. Sounds better

just cancel units and use 80 yds instead of 50 yds.

First you need yards to inches, so 36 inches in a yard:
The group is 1080 inches long, and they have to travel 1800 inches. But you can rephrase it as saying they have to travel both, so 2,880 inches. This way you no longer have to worry about the group. It's now just one rate and one distance.
112 steps/min. at 28 inches/step is 3136 inches/minute:
So 2,880 inches / 3136 inch/min = 0.918 minutes, or 55.1 seconds.

@ 112 steps a minute with 28 inches per step you will cover 3136 inches in one minute or 87.1 yards.
to find the time to cover 50 yards I have 87.1/min = 50/x
x = 0.57 min
0.57 min * 60 second / 1 min = 34.44 seconds.
Thats about as far as I got so far.

Covering 80 yards, not 50. You were almost there, just divide 80 by 87.1

Using Indlgold theorm I can confirm the answer is 55.1 seconds

Thanks everyone. It makes a lot of sense breaking it down to inches. I was making it more complicated than necessary.

The answer is 56 seconds
