Yep and I knew people atboth schools who got pregnant, dropped out, shoplifted, etc.

Same. I know people who died of drug ODs, went to prison etc that went to private schools.

I graduated from there in the mid 90s. I didn't find it to be a bad school even though it was still EBR at the time. I was an absolute shithead at that age but I had some pretty good teachers there.

There were some good ones, but there were a few that weren't good. I got a bad draw for Chemistry, I remember. Failed it. Most mind numbingly boring class I've ever taken.

I remember taking chemistry but I don't remember the teacher, only that he was a nerdy middle aged man.
Coach Ollie, Kennedy and Mrs Rao is about all I can name from there now.

I graduated from Brother Martin and always thought it was ridiculous my parents paid for school until I graduated college and realized why.
I was extremely well prepared for college and honestly didn’t need to work overly hard to graduate. On top of that the atmosphere of being at an all boys school was extremely beneficial as far as discipline and distractions.
Obviously being in NO you don’t have much choice, but even if I move my kid will be in private.

I was a very wild teenager. I had divorced parents, a dad that worked all the time and little to no supervision.
It's a miracle I made it through those years and went on to college and became a productive adult
It wasn't all that uncommon for me to have the house to myself for a week at a time when I was 16-17

Boys of that age are no better, it’s all perception

We did both. The oldest went to a private school in North Monroe and the youngest went to a large public across the River.
The oldest was much more prepared for college and the youngest struggled his first couple quarters.
There are pros and cons on both. Oldest loved sports, the youngest had different passions.
The youngest was exposed to more “worldly” things, the oldest didn’t face that as much.
The youngest is closer to the friends he made in high school, the oldest not so much.
Had I lived across the river with the oldest, he would have prob went to public.
There are good and bad in both.
I don’t think either one of them would have chosen a different path.
I think girls are a much different story, I’ve heard horror stories about how mean girls can be. God didn’t give me girls for a reason, I’d probably would have struggled with how they treat each other.

My daughter is 10, and there is a group of 4 of them that are all really close. They're not necessarily mean, but one of them is always mad at one of the others for some reason or another. Always over something small and stupid. I don't think I was built to have two daughters.

You really have to make a distinction between public, private, and parochial.
While I think highly of private schools I think most parochial schools are crap. I get in Louisiana parochial schools might be the best offering, they’re still far behind a decent private school.

yes, that’s probably a non-Catholic private school Those tend to do that - like Newman in NOLA, and maybe Country Day
Catholic school = parochial
Religious schools are not on the same tier as a private school. They use the the “religious exception” to avoid traditional state standards in education. Private schools can’t do that.

Yep that's him. I'm horrible with names but if I read it or hear it I'll remember

Catholic schools were still teaching Latin long after they were not teaching it in Private schools. Nuns could beat you till you learned it. private schools probably coddled you and did not use violence to get you educated.
I am almost positive one of the nuns of my youth was in drag (back then the habit covered everything but hands and face) and was hiding out as they were a leader in a Nazi death camp as their previous occupation. Freakisly strong for a woman and loved beating us.

I suppose perception is reality to many people. The reality is, most kids in private schools have hard working parents who just want the best for their kids. Most of those parents are taking out loans, so their kids can have a brighter futures then their own.

That was him. Like having Umbridge for Defense against the Dark Arts. Going to learn about using spells without ever using our wand. Meanwhile Gordon's class was doing experiments every other day.
