Generac is complete trash. Read the reviews. Knew of at least 15 people during hurricane Laura that all had one and none of them were working. All waiting on a repair man with no electricity. Get a tractor with a Pto generator….. this is tigerdroppings and I’m sure you’re loaded ;)

I ordered a generac 22kw from Lowes. Used a 10% military discount and it was just a tad under $5k. Bought all of the extra needed wire and underground gas lines and paid an electrician on the side. I had to rent a 500 gallon propane tank and filled it up. I was in total for $7200-7300. This was 2020-2021 time period. It runs my entire house 2200 sqft all electric house.

“ Generac is complete trash”

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that.I live in a rural area and quite a few people have good luck with Generac. Also have known quite a few people that have had them fail.Enough failed that I didn’t want to get one.

What I did is get 2 Honda 7000/5500,watts with a parallel kit,had an electrician hook up a transfer switch.I have to deal with gasoline but it has worked well the several times I’ve had to use it,Don’t have extension cords running all over the house like I did before.
I predict we’re going to have outages out the wazoo next for a few years due to the large number of dead trees along the power lines.
I’m happy with the set up I have.

—That’s because they didn’t check their batteries in the unit. You have to keep up maintenance on any generator, regardless of brand.

Generac 24kw was 6k with the transfer switch
about 3-4 hundred in parts
got a hook up on the install
no plumber / gas was right there from the pool heat
install was 1200, i gave him a bump
all done for 8k
installer said if he was quoting it would be 12-14k

this
of course there are other options but, yea, generac is trash
they have only sold a bazillion of them
most folks cant even change the oil much less adjust the valves after a break in period…

Bump for rouge and shoestring

I install kohler standby generators in SWLA and highly recommend a 26kw unit for most homes with electric heat. Total install cost should be around 11k.

Anyone you recommend on the Northshore?

Rouge

Put in a 26kW Briggs & Stratton 2 months ago.

10 year warranty was worth it for me.

Who did it and what was the cost?

Picked up a Firman 7500W dual fuel w/electric start from Lowe's this morning for $999 but I had a 10% coupon and some Lowe's cash.

It will run my entire house less the ACs and I'm fine with that. A couple of window units keep me cool. Those installed genies have gotten pretty expensive to just sit there.
