I've got to check this place out someday. I've heard great things about this from numerous people.

Nah, it's still around. It's pretty dead most nights though

I worked at the original Darrell's on Ryan Street. Some great memories while there in college.
That is the single thing I miss most about Lake Charles, and the second thing is not even close.
Darrell was a great boss.

Pop's PoBoys in Lafayette is the best overall PoBoy joint I have encountered. The Traditional Grilled Shrimp, Nonc Phil (when they have it), Bahn Bahn Shrimp, Not Hot (w/ sauce on the side), and Surf & Turf are LEGIT. The traditional grilled shrimp is the best seafood PoBoy I've ever had. The only thing on their menu that doesn't get gold stars from me is their hot roast beef (gravy could be better). Victor II Deli in Morgan City (gas station by the hospital) has the best hot roast beef I've had, including places in New Orleans.
Darrell's Special is as good as anything on their menu though. I also must admit, I order the special every time I go there, so I don't know about the rest of their menu/PoBoys. LOVE that sandwich.
Other great ones: 1/2 & 1/2 at Olde Tyme Grocery in Lafayette, Roast Beef at Parasol's in NOLA, grilled catfish and fried shrimp PoBoys at Duffy's in the Berry, Chris's Special at Chris's in Lafayette.
I am an admitted PoBoy & Boudin hound...

Just because SFP doesn't come to Tuesday Trivia anymore doesn't mean it shut down.

I noticed you didn't call it a poor-boy like 95% of the Lake Charles peeps.
