If the Corps would let the river change course to the Atchafalaya at the ORCS, would any water make its way down the Bonnet Carre? If not, then I'd say MS has a case for damages. It would mean the corps is pushing river unaturally and into the Ms Sound via the BC.

I'd like to think we could come up with some smarter, "top" scientists than the Corps of Engineers.

the top scientists they refer to are the consultants that USACE pays to tell them what to do. And these are the "top scientists/engineers" in the world.

If the structure was never built, would the water naturally flood that area anyway? If so, they want to sue Louisiana to prevent a naturally occurring event and Louisiana to suffer detrimental losses at a magnitude greater than they will if the gates remain closed?

It's the high Pearl River causing all of that

That's definitely not helping.

Well that makes more sense, but that's not what the poster said.

Not decided whether I agree or disagree, but since the Bonnet Carre opening we have had 149 dead dolphins wash up on the beach along with 88 Ridley Kemp Sea Turtles (endangered). Even if you don’t care about wildlife, this is hurting Tourism. Walking your kids on the beach and seeing these dead stinking creatures isn’t good. And as for the oysters and shrimp, that affects a lot of human income here. NS is not trying to be shitty, but trying to find a compromise.

ETA - morganza opening would help MS.
