On the news, looked like a smaller version of AF1

I only caught a glimpse but don't think it was the 747

Can a 747 land at BTR?

Why is he in the smaller 757? Can b.r airport not handle 747?

Yes. This was in 2008 with Bush and Jindal.

They sure as hell announced an I10 closure in Nola in 2013 when he visited.

Apparently he's heading to Omaha after BR which has a runway that's too small for the 747.

Dumb a midsize city like that hasn't made their airport compatible with a 747 in case of emergencies or special events like this.

Omaha has three runways which are all three longer then b.r's longest, BR longest is only 7000 ft my take is it can be done but not highly encouraged, especially at night

Ah, I stand corrected then. I read that somewhere, should've checked the source. Thanks.

It has been done. And I'm willing to bet the Air Force 1 pilot doesn't worry about day or night landings.

It comes in light. When Clinton left he went to Barksdale for fuel. I've seen that big Russian transport at BR and it is bigger that the 747.

I hought I saw somewhere that he is arriving tonight and staying in a hotel. Is this true??

Yes, the local news said he is staying at a hotel on Constitution Avenue tonight. Ironic, huh?

Why he always takes his morning dumps on the Constitution? The Secret Service probably just thought it would be easier for him to take his morning dump on Constitution Ave while he is in BR.

Well that is somewhat disappointing. I thought about heading up to BTR to see it. My dad and I did that when Clinton came, you could see that 747 towering over the terminal

Bush came into Baton Rouge with the 747-400 in 2004 and 2008.

I think it's funny that Obama has to stay in a Holiday Inn off I-10 because JBE's transition people booked all the downtown hotels.

Back in the day as a young kid, very young, I was able to walk up to President Ford and get his autograph outside Children's Hospital in NOLA. Walked down with my mom and some friends from
3 blocks away. Crazy how things have changed.

Ransom question, but why is a 747 bigger than a 757?

The 747 is also larger than the 767. The 777 is also larger than the 787. The model designation has to do when it comes out. The mid sized, 4-engined 707 was Boeing's first jet airliner. The original 737 was introduced in the 1960s, with the 747 coming out shortly after (even though both have been heavily updated every decade or so). The 777 and 787 are the newer air frames.

The 757 was used for this trip because one of Obama's Kansas stops were/is on a very short runway. Both Omaha and Baton Rouge have hosted Air Force One's 747-400 counterpart. 757 is a fantastic air frame, and it's a beautiful plane. Trump has one.
