I have no idea what you are doing.
Let's take the study I cited and round down and do some simple math.
40% or 40 out of 100 people have a gun in their household.
50% of those agree with the banning, so 20% or twenty out of a hundred people.
60% do not have a gun. 80% agree with the banning. That's 48% or 48 people.
20+48=68 Which is what the study showed.
Which again, is similar to numbers be many other studies the past few years.

And what? It's on the black-market, so, therefore, it's pointless to have laws against it? We just give up and don't try?
Last I checked we already had laws against mass murder. Seems that criminals don’t have much use for laws.
Because obviously if we just ban all guns crime will cease. Because laws.

I can tell you in no uncertain terms that I feel less safe because I have no clue what kind of training that person has using a gun.
The kind of people that do that are the same type that drop serious money on range time. You're seriously concerned about the training of people that actually go through the trouble of getting licensed to carry (not the open carriers, but I assume you can see the point still)?

I'm licensed to carry, though I don't. I'd hardly call it "trouble"
And the obvious answer to your question is an emphatic Yes, I'm concerned about someone getting licensed not being trained or having the slightest clue what to do when an actual event happens. And again, my concern is about the most normal thing in the world, not sure what you're taking exception to?
Aren't there countries out there that actually do require serious training programs before being able to carry a gun in public? What's so crazy about me thinking we should do the same?

You're right, everyone that carries daily probably never goes to the range and would only make things worse. You should be more worried about them than people illegally carrying.

As I said most American's agree with me, assault-style weapons (or whatever god damn phrase you want to use) and high-capacity magazines should be banned.
Because of utter ignorance.

I didn't say that.

Except it wasn't. You actually said you think everyone needs extensive training for you to feel comfortable with people carrying anywhere.

This is an unusually weak line of logic for you.

You put my words into my mouth, so I responded doing the exact same thing, making a statement you never said and attributing it to you. Is that not exactly what happened?

You're okay with cops carrying in public I'd assume. They miss with 90% of the rounds they fire.
Pretty much every single person I know that carries spends a good bit of money on training, and spends considerable amount of time at the range. Plenty more than cops do

It doesn't matter what in the frick you try to ban, evil people are going to find a way to do evil things.
frick, we've seen numerous massacres in Europe recently, some caused by guns despite strict bans of them, and some caused by vehicles.
What does that tell your brain?

quote:Kinda. One currently has to have a ccl in order to carry open in TX, except when on private property (research for possible additional exceptions). And the TX OC law is a recent change w/in the last few years. Prior to, TX was no OC since the 1850's or so. You should educate yourself, and I would also suggest learn to properly defend yourself.
I also live in Texas, an open carry state.
In contrast, one can OC w/o a CCL in Louisiana - truly God's Country.
See Venezuela for what can happen when only the "cops" have guns and some communist a-hole like OBAMA gets elected.
