I saw it’s going to be 82 degrees next week and a cold front on Wednesday and figured that’s the next severe event

This whole shite show that y’all keep doing is pathetic

Why do we need to be warned days in advance of a potential storm front? Let everyone go about their lives. Why do people assume they are safer at home rather than work or school? You can’t control where a tornado goes, it could kill you in your house when you are home trying to stay safe

How is it a weird melt? This is a weird thread about a thunderstorm.

I can not click on the link but when people are cancelling appointments and schools are closing it still effects me.

I understand that following the weather is a past time of yours and that’s fine but for some reason a fear of a cold front has permeated society and it’s ridiculous.

Our thread didn’t cause people to cancel things

Also, there were multiple tornadoes today so it’s not like nothing happened at all

Uh to be prepared. Some people do that. Power outages are possible in some areas.

Its not necessarily about being safer at home. For one it could be a liability issue for some places. Pretty sure schools would rather be known for letting out when we have events like this as opposed to being known for the school that DIDNT and had 200 students and teachers killed. If you reduce the amount of people out and clogging the roads, then it makes it easier for emergency workers and first responders to navigate in the event of an actual event.

A little common sense goes a long way

Just because it was a thunderstorm to you, doesnt mean it was for everyone. There have been numerous tornadoes on the ground in the past 24 hours. People lost homes and businesses. Dont be so damn nearsighted.

It’s not helping. It gets people worked up and they start talking about it at work, asking if they are going to get off. When most people wouldn’t even know anything is up.

Tornados happen all the time. It is a part of daily life. Like I said, y’all assume people are safer at home. Maybe they would actually be safer in a large building at work. It’s not exactly clear that there is a benefit to cancelling everything.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone upset at getting advance notice of a weather or other adverse event before.

And now the thread is complete now that some douche has entered bitching about the threads existence thinking we are scared of a little thunderstorm because he didn’t get blown away

I understand your sentiment but honestly today could have been much worse. I’m not sure where you’re at but it could have been much worse today in sela. We dodged a bullet

And you keep assuming its just about being safe at home. Its not. There are other considerations. But you would have to actually think about others in order to realize that.

This isn’t common sense at all

YOU send your kid to school. No one makes your kid go to school. If you don’t like the weather that day then keep them home.

My concern is that we didn’t do this 5-10 years ago. In another 5-10 years are we going to be cancelling school for even a thunderstorm? The streets will be wet, that’s kind of dangerous for a school bus you know

If you live in the Baton Rouge metro, outside of Ida we've gone several straight "events" that have turned out to be absolutely nothing. It rained for about 15 minutes total at my house today in Ascension. I've sat in HS football games in worse weather.

My kid had an important medical procedure rescheduled today, and my wife and I both had our calendars get upended with rescheduled meetings and cancellations all because of the Big Red "Moderate Risk" graphic that's been plastered all over local TV and social media for the last 3-4 days.

I don't blame the doctors or anybody that decided that wasn't an acceptable risk to take. But it's clear that we either need a new, more nuanced warning structure, or the people making the calls on these events need to be more sure before making said calls. Otherwise it's just all a big waste of time

No it couldn’t have. It’s the same as every other front that has moved through since the beginning of time

A windy cold front

A major hurricane approaching a coastal city

You think these two are equivalent?

Y’all are proving my point. Keep it up.
