NYC really started to modernize and clean up in the 80s under Koch. Not that he deserves the credit, it was more where society was headed from the awful 70s, but giving Jules credit in thread title is a bit of a stretch.

All those old junk cars lying around that went to scrap metal yards... worth thousands today...

I never really knew the 70s were such a bleak era until recently
Us Boomers lived thru those years, saw it all, watched NYC bounce back under Rudy’s no nonsense leadership. And now the youngsters seem determined to return to the ruins. And worse, to spread those ruins across the entire nation.

Between Koch and Rudy was Dinkins. Dinkins was sliding back to what we see in those pics.

Good comments. Dinkins was average, but only had 1 term so he really didn't do any damage. Giuliani deserves credit for sure, but there's alot of revisionist history here. He was mayor during 9/11, so got a lot of TV time, but he only had 3 months left in office and had nothing to do with the post 9/11 rebound/explosive growth of NYC, that was all Bloomberg.

Credit for the modern NY rebirth should be: 30% Koch, 5% Dinkins, 25% Rudy, and 40% Bloomberg.

I know many of you think that its that simple, vote for a party and things will change, but the Republican party are a bunch of kiddie touchers who hide behind behind strong moral people.

South Dakota GOP State Senate Hopefully Groomed & Raped Family Member

This is what yall vote for? That's how it works on this board right? There was another GOP candidate in I think Arizona a few weeks ago who got caught jerking off outside of an elementary school. Its an epidemic running through the party. Both parties are filled with fifth. But this is the shite you vote for if you vote down party lines no matter what.

Its a shame how yall support kiddie touchers.

I look forward to the responses.
