This is almost enough to make me withdraw my support for a $15 fast food minimum wage.

This sounds eerily similar to this group called Pranknet who did stuff like this.

Pranknet was much better before they started doing pranks that caused serious damage to actual places. They took things too far and got burned. A few were arrested and went to jail I believe. The leader, Dex (originally was Skream9), was found by The Smoking Gun but I don't think anything ever happened to him since he lives in Canada; however he was harassed by reporters.

The wiki page doesn't cover this, but back in 2000 - 2002, pranknet was a weekly show that Skream9 would host and have a live chatroom on IRC. He would ask for phone #'s from people in the chatroom, usually their friends or people at their school, and he would call their houses and pull some kind of prank on them. Sometimes he was pretending to be some Radio DJ and they needed to do a few things to win a prize. Sometimes he would talk to a girls dad, pretending to be a guy at school who's interested in his daughter. I was literally in tears for some of his shows. It was great! Then they stopped the show for a while and he came back as "Dex" with a similar format (live chatroom), however, he mainly called retail, fast food, and hotel establishments, mainly getting them to damage their buildings.

Yeah, that's crazy...I did see an article when I was googling about this, guy Markle that got arrested.

quote:

One of the members highlighted by TSG was James Tyler Markle, 20, of Diboll.

Among his efforts: calling a local McDonalds posing as someone in authority and convincing an employee to actiivate the sprinkler system and break out several windows, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

A judge has sentenced Markle to five years in prison, although it's likely he will get shock probation.

Shock probation could come in 90 to 120 days, the judge indicated.

Did they ask the employees the proverbial question our mothers all asked us: "If your friends all jumped off a cliff, would you, too?"

$15/hr seems to be in order. Give this crew a raise.
