We can get fighters up quickly enough to take this guy out but we can’t get a fighter up until they were both already inside the WTC on 9/11?

We actually already had planes up on 9/11 running hijack simulation drills. Hell of a coincidence.

The island homeslice crashed on is roughly a mile from Fort Lewis.
Air traffic control was trying to guide him to McCord Field and dude was like "naw, they'll take me out with anti aircraft".

When the plane the first tower it was thought to be an accident, and it was several minutes before information was coordinated and they even knew it was a commercial airliner. The second plane then hit the other tower, and the situation changed, fighters were scrambled and set to take down the plane over PA that was believed to be heading for the White House or Capital, it crashed before they could intercept.

American Airlines knew flight 11 was hijacked at 8:20 when Betty Ong called and notified them. Boston ARTCC called NEADS shortly after and NEADS sat on their hands for several minutes until they decided to scramble fighters at 8:46. The fighters took off at 8:53. It took 33 minutes to get a fighter in the air.
The airheads in the media thought the first plane was an accident. AA and NORAD knew it was hijacked.
