I would hate to be a police officer these days.

No doubt. They've got to deal with crazy people, people on drugs, crazy people on drugs and/or off their meds, and your run of the mill assholes. And then, God forbid, when they send one of these idiots off to meet their maker, they've got to hear Al Sharpton's and Don Lemon's bullshite.

Seattle PD had a sword guy once, they blasted him with a water canon. LINK

Seattle people were pissed the cops had so much patience. My how times change.

Owning swords, reptiles or birds is diagnostic of being trash, crazy or from Florida.

The must have known he was nuts. 11 hrs is too long, but at least they didn't end up killing him.

Around 1999, there was a standoff on the eastbound 60 freeway in suburban Los Angeles - Pomona or Ontario, maybe. I can't remember how it started, but the bad guy had hostages in a car and he was in the back seat. The cops disabled the car, and the freeway was closed in both directions on a weekday afternoon. It was the typical L.A. car chase media circus with multiple news helicopters overhead, all zooming their cameras in on the car.

After a couple of hours, around 4:00pm, he made a threatening move and a police sniper put a .308 round through his head on live television. It was hysterical to hear the news people try to weasel out of what they'd done.

I just wish the cops had shot him earlier, so traffic wouldn't have been as screwed up as bad.

The perp allegedly had spent time in Angola and was determined to never go back.

So, in this case, truly, the fear of the pen was mightier than the sword?
