I agree Heart, I smoked pot bc I didn’t like drinking when I was a young buck. Now I drink bc I can’t smoke pot and be gainfully employed.

Here we go again. Marijuana is just not safe like most people here want you to believe. I’m sure they’ll blame other factors like always but the common denominator in all these stories is marijuana.

You really can't be serious. Synthetic marijuana use to be sold in gas stations, etc. It was pretty much marketed as a marijuana type substance in which the illegal part of marijuana (THC) was replaced with legal chemicals. It was causing people to do crazy shite.. People were trying to eat other people's faces off, etc, etc. I think it is now illegal in most or all states.

I guess, once it became illegal, it became a popular street drug. So if you want to blame something on this drug, blame the fact that marijuana is illegal in most states.

Wow.

Nothing like a good ole zombie high to hit the sweet spot.

This is what I don't understand. What is it that appeals to people? But then again, people do anything to get any type of high.. But just in this instance.. 76 people had to be treated for using it. Why do people like to do shite in which they have little to no control of their actions?

It's maddening.

Drinking is much worse for your health and well being while marijuana has some positive benefits.

Both can be used responsibly, yet people have been brainwashed for decades that marijuana is bad and drinking is okay.

Another reason why marijuana should be legal. Can’t OD on it and it will stop people from smoking and doing dangerous drugs like synthetic pot and stuff

Another instance of the government putting people's health at risk because the government tells you that you can't consume REAL marijuana.

People will get high and drunk. It's a fact of life.

If marijuana were legal I'd probably cut my drinking by half. Similar for everyone else.

Do you really think people are using this stupid shite cause they can't find REAL marijuana anywhere?

What is it that appeals to people?

I believe the original appeal is that it didn't show up in most drug screens. After all the horror stories I have no idea what the appeal is now.

100% absolutely.

Evading drug tests is another reason.

It's the reason it hit the market in the first place. When it was legal.. Several years ago, it was much easier for people to stop at a gas station then it is to have to call someone, who might have some to sell and isn't waiting for product.. And.. Well, you can get in legal trouble if you have marijuana on you opposed to synthetic marijuana.. So marijuana being illegal played a huge part in the popularity of synthetic marijuana.

Disagree. It became popular because of drug tests. Not because weed is too hard to find.

I agree with this one. It got real bad in the refineries about 5-8 years ago when it was in its heyday. Had so many coworkers end up hooked on that shite because it didnt show in any kind of drug test. Had one guy damn near die after smoking some in the portacan.

This is the main reason, which reminds me that pre employment and random drug screening is flawed thinking.

The argument for employment drug testing is they dont want you high on the job.

Perfectly reasonable request. But out of all the people who would consume marijuana, how many are doing it on the job versus nights and weekends?

I mean you dont see people getting drunk during work hours. 99.5% of the people drinking alcohol do it nights and weekends.

So why even do random drug screenings? You're excluding a large workforce and potentially having to fire top performers just to catch that 0.5% of people getting high on the job.

This. My nephew started the synthetic marijuana because he was subjected to drug tests at his new job. One night after smoking this, he grabbed his gun and shot himself in the head. No telling what he was experiencing that made him do this. Sad, sad, sad.

It's all about liability/risk management. There are readily available reliable tests to tell if someone is currently drunk. Not so much yet with marijuana.

I know. Point is that people don't avoid drinking on the job because they might be tested. They don't drink on the job because it's obvious to visualize and risky. Same with marijuana.

Seems like the cops should just let this play out. Gets bad synth MJ off the streets and probably gets some morons off the street who may or may not really be contributing positively to society.

I've met plenty of active duty soldiers who smoked that synthetic shite because it wouldn't show up on drug tests. Just because people like to use drugs doesn't mean they don't contribute to society. Nor does it mean that they harm society by using drugs. Every situation differs.

People like weed. I know doctors, lawyers, and people from all walks of life who smoke.
