It's on the local news now, the officer said "I've got a subject, who won't show me his hands". Not sure what that's about, because in the video, he clearly has his hands up. Maybe that was before backup arrived. Also, no one there offered any medical assistance, after he was shot.

Yeah just wantched this on the news, this one definitely looks bad. They just confirmed that he was unarmed too.
You can hear someome from the helicopter saying "looks like a bad dude too"

The guy had multiple convictions.

I can't see very well what went down, but have a hard time understanding why 4 cops couldn't get a hold of this situation without having to shoot someone dead.

I'll never understand why the word black gets so many people excited. Change the title to guy shot while not obeying police orders and it doesn't seem as bad. To me this looks like a bad shoot and happens to white people all the time but everybody wants to jump on it when it happens to a black man. Hopefully justice is served for this man if it is deserved and maybe body cam footage will justify the shooting if he's being belligerent and Threatening towards the cops.

If manslaughter- and that's a generous way to look at it- is like flubbing a test in your opinion, then a failing grade of prison and loss of any pension/benefits for the officer sounds fair.

It appears the victim disobeyed the officer and continued to walk to his vehicle and reach for something inside the vehicle. If he would have just froze and kept his hands in the air he would still be alive.

Sad situation all the way around.

That's one way to reduce the prison population.

Seriously, that's irrelevant in this situation. They didn't know anything about him at that point.

Rush a person with a gun and they must likely will not shoot everyone that rushes them. They will likely shoot one.

LINK

So far, I have seen no answers to these questions:

1. What happened before to bring LE into this situation?

2. Why were so many responding to one person?

3. What was said during the actual interaction before shots fired?

4. Could the officer's had known anything about what was in the vehicle DURING the incident?

That is just for starters.

Why were so many police officers responding

Good question. Was driving through downtown Baton Rouge on my way home last night. I turned down a side street and there were two police cars with their lights going parked near the curb by a sidewalk where a man was standing behind a push lawnmower. He was an older guy.

Before I could get past the situation on this very short street, two more police cars drove up with their lights on.

The guy was just standing there with his hands on the lawnmower handle. No threat and four police cars with two officers in each pull up.

When I got home, I turned on the TV and waited for the 10 o'clock news wondering if I'd hear a broadcast about another fatal shooting by police.

The shooting in the OP's video was a bad one, and who knows, maybe the guy was trying to get his wallet with his ID inside out of the vehicle. Just crazy.

They probably thought he stole it.
