Police being de-funded? Time for mercenaries

If police getting de-funded becomes common enough I feel like starting a local security contracting company would be profitable, and cool. You'd be a respected member of society by providing safety and you'd get paid well, also doesn't hurt to say you run a mercenary organization. Any of you baws down to start one?

It’s going to devolve into vigilantism, that’s what’s going to happen. This is the absolute most irresponsible act I can even imagine from a supposed civilized society. We are simply going to revert back to when many of these states were territories and bands of outlaws ruled things. This is going to be an experiment gone really wrong.

If the police is defunded then taxes should be lowered. The cost of everything will be increased if companies need to hire private security.

Honestly how much do the police really “protect and serve” the civilian population overall? I have never nor will ever count on the police to protect me, have always believed that you have to protect yourself. Largely because even well intentioned police can’t be everywhere at once and the likelihood of them actually preventing you from being the victim of a crime is slim and almost impossible. Also a lot of the time it seems like the police are just out bothering law abiding citizens over petty things while 50 percent of murders go unsolved. And the chances of the police recovering stolen property or something for you is also slim to none.
