Polaris Slingshots - What's the story?

Lately I've been seeing a shite ton of these things on the road daily, not just weekend toys anymore. Even seeing smaller competitor versions that can't be any longer than a go-kart, sit like 2 inches above the road and have no clue how they're street legal. What's the story here, what am I missing about these vehicles where people are spending $25k plus for these open roadsters?

We have packs of them here riding along with extended frame crotch rockets.
I guess the Dodge chargers are getting too expensive to fuel up.

I've ridden in them a handful of times, fun but wouldn't trade my motorcycles for one.
I've noticed that Brotha's certainly seem to love them at a much higher than average rate.

The only thing I've learned from seeing them is that apparently white folks are not allowed to buy them.

I would rather the side by side that is apparently street legal.

ISWYDT and this is the segment of the population where I'm seeing everyone buying them...just didn't want to say that in the OP. Guess there has been a lot of prosperity and new money over the last couple of yrs.

Those things are dangerous as hell.
Since they're only 3 wheels, they don't have to pass any crash tests like a normal vehicle.

You seem to be tying size to street legal.
Laws vary by state. I've never seen size as one of them.
.... so size REALLY DON'T matter.

Laundered drug $$$$ is the correct answer.

Yep that's what I'm doing because this competitor one I saw yesterday was half the size of a Slingshot and the driver's butt was 2 inches above the road. Unlike a motorcycle, you could not see him in your rear view or when stopped at a light. Only way I saw him was because I was directly behind. He had a temporary plate I think.

I usually hear the music they play on these obnoxiously loud before I see them. Saw a guy bumping Kenny G the other day on one

I'm getting old, but I don't want to "catch every eye" as the ad slogan says. I just want to move myself and my shite from one place to another with a modicum of safety and comfort. There's plenty of useless stuff I could be tempted to waste money on. This isn't one of them.

They are driven around Buckhead by predominantly one demographic.

The speakers layout is really strange. They are angled out away from seats. Almost if by design for everyone else to hear the music
