Weaver - She'll be on our prayer list at our church.
Also, I am not too sure if she likes to read but check out the book "Love, Medicine and Miracles.' Great book - my paw-paw had lung cancer - working in the mill and smoking got him...he was told he had 6 months to live, he lived for 8 years after that- becuase he had the attitude the he would live everyday like it was his last.

man this thread actually brought tears to my eyes. I been through this so many times in my life I can't count. Weaver, your prayers are with us man.
Thanks and sorry if you have had to go thru this multiple times like myself. It is a life changing experience, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. I have been praying night and day, which is a shame as I should have been anyway, not just when I am in need. I have always been a good person and felt like God would help me, if I asked him to. I would be willing to do anything to help cure my Mom, but since I can't, all I do is pray and support her and my family. I have a positive attitude and know that people beat the odds, so why not my Mom? I guess the hardest thing is that I am not there with her and that she is in pain. If she wants me there, I will be there and I will make sure that her doctors monitor the pain and treat it accordingly. Like I said, life is short, so enjoy every moment. You never know when it could be your last.

Justice thank you..when the doctor told us I started bawling.
I will keep you in my prayers as well. The same happened to me after I got off the phone with my Mom's oncologist. That following day at work, I just broke down in front of several women at work. They were very supportive and have been since. I am not one to show my feelings to others outside my family and friends, but I just lost it.
I hope to find out tomorrow or next week about MD Anderson. It will all depend on how her current treatments work and if they have alternatives, which I am sure they do. I just need to be supportive of my Mom and let her know she is doing the right thing and to never give up.

Thanks. I have heard so many stories like this. I am currently reading Lance Armstrong's book and it is amazing. The doctors gave him a 20% chance to live and that was before the lesions on his brain. That proves that miracles happens, so you just have to believe. I will pick this book up for sure. Perhaps when I visit my Mom on weekends, I can read to her.

Weaver,
I very, very sorry about your mom. I have practiced medicine for over 16 years and can tell you that prayers and positive thoughts do help. You and your mother will be in mine.

had surgery and radiation and chemotherapy as well and the cancer was in remission until recently. The cancer has moved and now has attacked her spine and ribs
I have a suprisingly similar story....about three months ago, my secretary (39 years old) had cancer return.....previously had cervical cancer, went into remission, now attacked her spine and ribs....I really feared for the worst....
today, she was pronounced cancer free....and is scheduled to come back to work in about 3 weeks...
keep the faith bud...you and your mom are in my prayers every day.....

Well guys, my brother and I will need to break the news to my grandmother today. My Mom didn't want to tell me over the phone, but she couldn't hold it back and she decided that she wants us to tell her, which will be difficult, but will do what she wants. My grandmother has been struggling since Katrina, where she lost her house, and I hope this does not push her over. I am always there for her, so I will have to reassure her of this. It will be a very difficult day, but I hope tomorrow will be better as we as going to see my Mom tomorrow and talk to her doctor on Monday. I continue to pray and hope my prayers will be answered.
Again, thanks to all of you for the prayers.

I saw my Mom this weekend and she is doing better. She has another week of radiation and some more chemo and then they will do some more ct scans and pet scans if necessary. She is going to a Nascar race at Richmond, VA this weekend with my brother. I continue to pray each day and hope that the cancer will go into remission again and that the radiation and chemo will work. She is in good spirits and am doing what I can to help her. Thanks again to you all. I will keep everyone posted.

Good for her!
A positive attitude makes a huge difference during treatment, and the more normal she can keep her life, the better off she will be. Still praying for you and your family, and praying for remission!
