I have a spinner that is half white and half gray. If you spin it 3 times, what is the probability of landing on gray exactly 2 times?

ETA

By now, people should know better than to ask math questions, or questions that pertain to numbers on the OT.

But really, there are 8 things that can happen in 3 spins.

In 3 of those 8, you get gray twice. So 3 in 8 or 37.5%

Each spin is independent, so you have 1/2 chance each time. I'm too tied to figure out the rest

This is what I got, but the answer the book has is 3/8. It doesn't say they have to be consecutive. I don't know.

Read my edit of that post. I corrected it to be 3 of 8

I miscounted the number of times gray occurred twice

You're thinking of the question wrong...it was simply what the odds of it being gray twice are.

So that gives you

All white
All gray
One white, two gray
Two gray, one white

So the answer is 25%

Got any other brain busters for me?

1 in 2 of getting grey.

1 in 2x2 of getting grey twice or 1 in 4.

1 in 2x2x2 of getting grey thrice or 1 in 8.

Probability of getting 2 of 3 will be 2 in 2x2x2. or 2 in 8 or 1 in 4.

It should be around 50%, at 3 times it would be random. The more spins, the closer to 50% statistically.
