Haven't been to a Planet Fitness but I know they get a bad rep from certain people. Like someone said before though, they have a beautiful business plan marketing towards the average/below average fit person instead of the serious/hardcore lifters.

I think the PF franchises may be hurting the Anytime Fitness franchises. Back in '08 I looked into opening an AF in my city but all the territories in my area were already full (not hard to do when you are given a 2.5 mile territory so anyone can open another location outside that radius). Guess I'm still on AF mailing list because in the last couple months I've received several emails for AF gyms for sale in Louisiana/Miss/Texas. Did a little research into only a couple of them and what stood out to me was there was a Planet Fitness recently opened down the street from the AF. Could be purely coincidence though.
