ATLANTA (CNN) - A pipeline link in Alabama is causing gas shortages across the southeast.

Some service stations in metro Atlanta and north Georgia started running out of gas Sunday night. Other stations experienced long lines waiting for gas.

The shortage comes after a section of the Colonial Pipeline closed earlier this month.

The pipeline runs from Houston from New York and carries gas to much of the southeast and East Coast.

Officials are trying to stop a spill of roughly 250,000 gallons that was discovered in rural Alabama.

The closed pipeline has suppliers looking for alternative ways to transport gasoline to affected areas. Until then, AAA said gas prices are up an average of 21 cents in Georgia and 13 cents in Tennessee last weekend.

The Colonial Pipeline Company has been scrambling to get it back online. A bypass line is being constructed to get fuel flowing again.LINK

This reminds me of the last year when I did a search on Yahoo instead of google and the breaking news was Germany bombing pearl harbor.

more like $.50+ some areas are up to $3+ a gallon.

Everyone is panicking and filling up 5 gallon tanks as much as they can
