My doc was useless- prescribed pain pills that did nothing. X-rays were negative so it’s not a disk.
whuuut? You do not understand this issue very well. Prescribing pain pills is all the doc can do. X-ray means nothing for pinched nerve. Try some naproxin/aleve. Won't work quickly but after few hours you will feel better. Naproxin is an anti-inflammatory. If it's a bulging disc, it will help, though won't necessarily be a miracle drug. Ice can help in the short term, but NSAIDS will work for medium term.

X-rays negative don’t mean it’s not disc at all. And one way or another, your muscles are going to be involved. Nerve pinch sounds right though, just a matter of what causing it. Forget pain pills, ask for muscle relaxers and anti inflammatories and physical therapy. In therapy make sure you get traction. If all that doesn’t work at all then worry. If you want to try diy, get the meds still but you can get a traction unit off Amazon or eBay and try that.

Have had three massages that didnt help. Even laying flat on a massage table hurts. It sucks.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear it. Maybe try the chiropractor. Good luck

Xrays show bone. A good Dr can tell if the bone is out of place. If it is slightly buldged, non-evasive steps would be taken first anyway. I had a similar issue in my lower back/hip. Pain, and left leg was hurting. Xrays were neg, but I sweared my disc were screwed. Muscle relaxers help tremendously. Try those first, OP.

Need MRI, not X-ray. Sounds like C6-C7...

Physical therapy may give you some relief, may require an injection...

Id get one of those neck traction machines that hang off the door. Cheap and you can treat yourself.

I would get a PT that does dry needling too.

Find out what the issue is before you start any treatments (massage, chiro, surgery etc). You can’t treat an injury unless you know the full extent of that injury.

Yup. You may look like a dork doing this but traction works. If you can take muscle relaxers then it's even better.

If you suspect disc damage do not let a chiropractor twist or crack you.

Had same issue in March. Pain radiating down arm into elbow, forearm and thumb which was numb.
I would recommend going to chiropractor that does the following:

Dry needling
Cupping therapy
Traction table to stretch neck
Obviously adjustments
Then buy a TENS machine

I went from excruciating pain and unable to sleep at night to working out again with no restrictions.

X Rays and MRI showed nothing on mine. A Nerve conduction test is the definitive test for a impinged nerve, also know as an EMG. That was the last test they did on me, after repeatedly saying there was nothing wrong and I shouldn’t be in pain. Surgery fixed the problem. That will never happen again!!!

If you are in Baton Rouge, see someone at the Neuromedical Center. My surgeon was Dr. Oberlander. Did a great job, nine years out now and no problems.
