The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald was published on 10 April 1925. The novel received mixed reviews and sold only 20,000 copies in its initial release, and by the time of Fitzgerald’s death in 1940, it had sold only 25,000 copies. It has been reported that in the last year of Fitzgerald’s life, 7 copies of the book were sold, 5 to Fitzgerald.
In 1942, the Council on Books in Wartime selected The Great Gatsby as one of the titles to send to soldiers overseas, and shipped more than 155,000 copies, re-introducing the book and boosting its reputation.

The go cart track and carnival type rides across the street from the Public Beach/Hangout was the shite when I was a kid. Late 1960s early 70s
On the right at the corner of 59 and West Beach Blvd? I remember one was there in '86.

What a beautiful, firm, and curvy top. They don’t make them like that anymore.
I also like the removable hard shell on the convertible.

Yep. My dad was a truck driver, I often wish I was doing that.

They’d probably have sold a lot more of those if they’d left off that part about it not being a vibrator.

Here's one I ran across when visiting Mom a while back. Her Uncle Brooks C. Bowles, (6th Inf AEF) took it from the body of a dead German soldier in 1917 or 1918. None of us can figure out who all the German brass is in the photo.

The one with the fur hat and skull emblem is field marshal August von Mackensen. He was known for the hat.
Edit: in review, probably not him because the one in your photo looks younger. But definitely in the same regiment known as the Hussars.

Thank you very much! This photo has been one that has kept my attention for better than 50 years!
