My parents had that same Ponderosa Pine paneling in their house up until the 80's..
People that took it out, took it out one piece at a time to save it..

No telling in my remodeling career how much I tore out, painted over, and saved to replace pieces.
Beautiful stuff from a “day gone by” era.
Every house had hardwood floors as it was the cheapest option. The amount that was shag carpeted was staggering. Then the 90’s came in and it was a race to reclaim the original wood.
Oh well, it’s been a part of me putting beans and biscuits on the table.
