That's the subject matter of the 1946 movie, "The Best Years of Our Lives." It wasn't all joy.

That movie poster for Best Years of our Lives did not include the only person to win 2 academy awards for the same role, Harold Russell. His injuries were real, lost both hands when handling dynamite.

He played Homer I believe. He grabbed your heart. His girlfriend was great too. They stole the show.
