Steamer John S. Summers, ca. 1895~98 on the Mississippi River near Hickman, Kentucky.

The fellow seated on the railing to the left, wearing the captain's cap and smoking his pipe, is my great grandfather, Lewis David Tullis.

Found this photo in a rather old family album. The paper is extremely brittle and I was a bit worried about whether I should scan it for fear of causing more damage to it.

1961, the opening of Come September in New Orleans. I suspect it was a chick flick.

Richard Nixon’s last meal at the White House, in 1974. On the day that he announced his resignation, Nixon ordered cottage cheese, pineapple slices and a glass of milk.

The bus stops here

Many bus stations were built during the Art Deco movement.

Jackson MS had two built during the late 1930s:

I believe the Trailways building was demolished.

The Greyhound station actually has a Wikipedia page. You can guess why:
quote:

The Greyhound Bus Station at 219 N. Lamar St., Jackson, Mississippi, was the site of many arrests during the May 1961 Freedom Rides of the Civil Rights Movement. The Art Deco building has been preserved and currently functions as an architect's office.
