The C8 is a mid-engine car debuting on 7/18.

The front engine C7 is officially gone from production.

I may be way wrong but at first glance it looks like the back end of a camaro.

Rear end looks like a ZL1 camero. I figured they would have went with circular rear lights to have a Ferrari look and a throw back to the late 60 early 70 stingrays

Wouldn’t make sense to have a newly released mid engine car throwback to the old corvettes when the current one doesn’t.

I think going mid-engine and up market is the only way the Vette survives in our SUV society.

And Ferrari is “going back” to front engine/V12 a la the 812 Superfast and the GTC4Lusso.

SUV's don't have much impact on the sports car market.

They went mid engine as they had essentially maxed out the handling capability of a front engine car and it was showing on the track.

They were making it up with raw hp and driver skill, but yeah, FE was pretty much limited.

Plus, this new configuration will be more conducive to AWD.

And the average age of the C7 Corvette buyer was like 59.

The car was (is) in danger of aging itself out of existence like Harley Davidson.

Next gen will be delayed. It’s not being discontinued.

57, ya dang dude.

They needed a refresh. The C7 is still pretty badass, but suffers from old-tech.

The C8 should lower the median buyer's age down, just like all the new gens have done previously.

Being a traditionalist I hate it, but they need AWD with today's power levels to compete with the other cars on the market. Hard to beat the other guy to 60 or through the 1/4 when you're putting your 700+hp to only two tires with the engine on the other end.

Man, I am really conflicted about this (AWD) for my next sports car.

I thought for sure i really wanted it, but I really like RWD.

BMW's new 850 with the selectable option is great, but at 4400+ it is a heavy beast.

To get the diffuser in the center of the car.

Better downforce was my guess.
