Inspired by Adam Carolla's podcast

He was talking about changing the phrase "going out on a limb" to "going out on a selfie stick" for the new generation. His reasoning is that kids can't climb trees anymore because of CPS.

Got me thinking of other phrases kids won't understand in the future. For example: "going postal".

Does anyone still use that?

This has been lost of meaning for quite a while, but, "Don't change that dial!"

I thought about that one and the hand signal we all used to do. The old moving a fist in a vertical circle so the car near to you will roll down the window.

I continue to say this despite never having had a manual window until recently.

I was just thinking that I haven't heard the phrase "long-distance call" in a good while.

I heard someone say that the other day, something like "he just doesn't want to have to make a long distance call," and he was talking about a phone call, made me feel a little better at being slow to adapt to technology

Kinda the opposite of what you're asking but the question "where are you?" is a relatively new term

Before cell phones, there was no need to ask this question
