It’s billed as a Land Rover Defender
Hope this guy remakes a functional LR Discovery Series II next. Great SUV look with terrible mechanics.

Ineos is a chemical company that’s branching out. The founder just loves the Defender - he tried to buy the rights when JLR stopped making them.
When JLR heard about the project they attempted to copyright the silhouette of the original Defender, and they even sued Ineos to stop the project.
JLR lost both battles.
Ineos talked at one point about a direct to consumer sales model. I don’t know what that actually means.
Ineos owns the old British motorcycle clothing company Belstaff, and they sponsor a number of sports teams, from F1 to cycling.

I would be in the market for one. Something I could drive for 15 years with minimal depreciation and very little to go wrong.
Closest thing you can get to breaking even buying a new car these days.

Same sales model as Tesla. The BS auto lobby will try to tell you that you need a dealership to bring it to for service and purchase. This needs to change.

I’d like to see that happen.
The exact quote was “we’ll sell it to you in a field.”
They see farmers as a core market, so I’m guessing the idea is, they’d drive it to to your farm for a test drive, if that’s what it takes.

Pics look like it’ll have a solid front axle, so that’s a great start. I’d just be worried about the maintenance on the BMW motor.

Needs a brush guard to safely navigate today’s urban riot war zones. Otherwise looks well equipped.

A BMW drivetrain should give you the same experience as the original Land Rover. Hello, service department.

They’re using Carraro axles, ZF transmissions, and the straight six from BMW.
I have no experience with that motor. But they have been making it for a long time.

I have a non turbo straight six in my BMW...and holy shite if they put the manual transmission.from my 5 series in this thing it would be insane.

This is the first I've seen of this. Definitely interested if it makes it here. I've wanted a Defender for years and was excited when I heard LR was going to sell the new version here and then predictably disappointed at the bougie POS they came out with.

The Rest of World (ROW) spec vehicles that are being imported these days are affordable. And you can get a bargain with the ex MOD trucks, as long as you don’t mind driving a visibly military configured vehicle.
I grew up on Land Rovers, I’ve probably owned seven or eight, but build quality was always the devil. LR never had the budgets to do it right.
Of course, I’m currently looking for a Defender 90 right now A Spanish or Italian import.
