because to park it is like 1k a month.
That was another thing my new friend from L.A. was floored by moving to Scottsdale. She couldn't believe she could drive places and actually park for free.

I've lived in Seattle and Arizona and it's hard for me to pick one over the other. Phoenix has hotter women and a better party scene. Seattle has legal weed and more of a big city feel. Both have awesome outdoor activities but I'd give Seattle the edge because it's close to a wider variety of environments.

Rain is not as bad as people make it out to be. Most people that have never been there propagate this. Anyone that has spent some time there will tell you it is overblown. Having spent time in both cities, Seattle wins every time

that is a damn interesting choice...the two cities are really totally opposite ends of the spectrum in almost every way that I can think of.
I have visited both and find them both to be very nice and unique places with very cool but different vibes.
If I had that choice, I would take trip to each one for two or three days to check it out.

Let me throw in a curveball:
The pay is the SAME for both opportunities. If I'm on a limited budget, is Seattle manageable? I've got 3 dogs to consider

Well for me...it's not just the rain....but cloudy, dreary, overcast weather in general. It makes me depressed. I do better with lots of sunshine.
I would absolutely love to visit and explore Seattle, cause it seems like an amazing city and the PNW area looks stunning. Just don't think it would suit me to be a resident there.

It's more the overcast than the rain and it can get overwhelming for some. My first fall/winter/spring here got to me pretty badly but I like it now. It is a little overblown but people should still consider it.

I would imagine the cost of living is Seattle is much higher than Phoenix

I'd got with Seattle in a heartbeat.

LSUnurse- I lived in Scottsdale for five years. I never got used to that heat

Depends on how limited and if you want to live in Seattle proper.

Spring & Summer in Seattle are pretty awesome. I'm not going to lie and say that it isn't cloudy/dreary out. But the rain in that region is heavily exaggerated by some.

I've been here 10 years. Guess it just never really bothered me that much. Give me 100-105 degrees and 20% humidity any day over 90 degrees and 90% humidity.
I loved the low humidity though. My hair always frizzed like crazy in LA....not here

Doesn't BR actually get more rain than Seattle?

Your username is PNW (aka pacific northwest).

Yep
. Which is kind of bizarre to me.

Mostly good advice. Being from the side of WA that gets sunshine around 300 days per year I don't understand why people subject themselves to the over 200 days of gray skies.
If pay is the same and not adjusted for COL and you are young and single, I'd take Phoenix. Also whoever said it's possible to live in Seattle without a car and public transportation being reliable, has never lived in Seattle. That's just bad advice/info.

I got job offers with the same organization in both Seattle and Phoenix.
Is it a job offer within the tech industry? If so, then Seattle is a no brainer. If it isn't, then it just depends what type of environment you like better, cost of living, etc.

I'm an outdoorsman and nature freak and understand both are extremely different environments.
This is one thing that Seattle will definitely have. There's unlimited outdoor options within 2 hours of the city and every type of outdoors environment within the state. Beaches, deserts, mountains, rainforests, etc.

Also OP...do you love MLB?
MLB Spring Training is every year here and is a lot of fun.
If you are young and single...come spend a weekend in Scottsdale (hang out in Old Town at night) and see if the nightlife is for you.

PHX is a blast furnace and brown....SEA is cold, damp, and green with the added benefit of no state income tax. Also, close to Whistler.
