So effects wear off after 6 months? Only immunity or side effects also?

researchers always list limitations in every peer-review study, genius. that doesnt discredit the findings

The analysis showed that the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing hospitalization and death remained high at 90% for at least six months, even against the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus.

question: on the nightly 5PM national news, how many broadcasts in the last 2 years have gone 5 minutes from the start without mentioning COVID?

not many, quit whining.

I think a lot of us stopped watching the evening news a while back.

I think most people who are vaccinated, chose to be vaccinated due to the drop is severe cases for those that are infected. Not because they think that they can’t get Covid after getting the vaccine.

Correct. However, that is not the initial bill of goods the public was sold. It was sold as a preventative drug.

Same. My HS friend had it in March of last year and still had strong antibodies the last time he had it checked in July.

How long before the reduced symptoms continue?

If the efficacy is continuing to drop, should the reduced symptoms eventually drop along with it.

Or is that what the constant boosters are for?

i don’t consider myself to watch it, but you all are kissing the point. COVID has been a national headline discussed in this country for almost a solid 2 years. Those complaining about COVID threads are really just complaining because they don’t like the content of the thread.

I don’t have the answers to these questions, but we know that the vaccine does provide some sort of reduced symptoms

I’m not someone who is super pro-vaccine, or anti-vaccine. I think there are some people who should definitely get it (high risk folks), but I don’t think anyone should be forced to get it.

Right, it’s just like people who don’t like politics in sports. I pretty much avoid the news because I don’t wanna see the stupid fear mongering bullshite, but then it appears here in almost every thread. I’m not even saying that people should stop creating COVID threads, I just don’t see how it’s healthy to be so wrapped up in this bullshite.

I did notice my WiFi has been a little iffy over the past month. Time to get a booster.

*conspiracy theory*. Pfizer begins with P. Get three shots of the P vaccine. Flip it upside down and hold it to a mirror. 666 bitch, the mark of the beast.

I’ve never known so many baws with a BMI over 30 worried about their health. Forget about cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma due to alcohol, forget lung cancer and heart disease from tobacco. frick the mercury laden fish they eat, because the plants dumping the mercury pays the bills for the F150. Obesity/BMI numbers do not apply to them because they were muscular in high school (hell, they would look downright skinny under 200 pounds at 5’10 (actually 5’ 7.5”) or 6 foot (5’ 9” to 5’ 11”).

I mean, i hate politics in sports. but at the same time this is an apples to oranges comparison.

this is the OT and we don’t have a COVID board, so the OT seems like a logical place to create a COVID thread.

men watch sports to escape their own lives, live through their teams. and have instant comradery with strangers who support the same team. inserting politics is intentionally divisive.

also. as the board’s Lefties have told me countless of times when i complained about politics in sports, “change the channel”

I am not sure the OP and others are reading the article in an unbias manner.

As stated in the article:
quote:

The analysis showed that the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing hospitalization and death remained high at 90% for at least six months, even against the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus.

The Pfizer vaccine was found to be 90% effective after 6 months at preventing hospitalizations. That is evidence that contradicts the OP's thread title which, dare I say, is fake news.

quote:

Vaccine effectiveness against the Delta variant was 93% after the first month, declining to 53% after four months. Against other coronavirus variants, efficacy declined to 67% from 97%.

Now given the Pfizer vaccine was developed for covid-19 and not the Delta variant, it still affords one some protection.

The authors in the article warn of confounding variables that could call all these findings into question.

Bottom line, it is no where as effective as say a MMR or last as long, but it does provide protection against the virus.

The OT is sort of an escape too, Covid topics are so divisive too. It doesn’t have to be, but the way that threads are presented here are divisive. As I said, I don’t even care that they are here, it just seems like some people have an unhealthy obsession over Covid.

ETA: and that is on both sides. You have one group fear mongering over vaccines, and another fear mongering over Covid
