Install a hardwired electronic fence along your existing fence (petsafe, etc.), put the white flags out, train the dog, profit. He can't and won't get near the fence to jump it. I've had 5 dogs in mine at 2 different homes, all large breeds, all high drive, uncut male hunting dogs and have never had one run the fence because I trained them not to. A dog will never knowingly hurt itself, so teaching them what the flags and collar beeping means is crucial.

Those manufacturers actually recommend installing the wire on a fence if possible instead of underground. The hardwired units are superior to wireless and customizable. It'll be a single strand of wire attached to the inside of the fence, the hoa will never know.

If your yard is super small though, be prepared for a yard full of stinking dog shite with grassless goat trails all through it.

Dogs who are kennel trained don't mind their kennels, in fact they prefer them. Mine nap and loaf around in their's all day.

In my man cave, I boxed in one wall that gave my schnauzer about 15’ x 3’ and was able to put his crate at one end with an elevated stand of food/water. I put a 2’ square pee pad down at other end and he did great with that setup for the entire time I had him.

Crate trained, secured at night until 2 years old. Then leave the crate door open/unlocked, he now sleeps in there probably 50% of the time and almost exclusively during storms. The door is left swinging freely and unlocked, but he often pulls it open or closed at will. He's 5 now and so far hasn't destroyed anything.

Of course. I said until trustworthy. Puppies will potty and chew and eat dangerous things. Once they they are past this stage, they get free rein. At about 4 to 6 mos., we start letting them stay out overnight and go from there re work hours.

If you aren’t with them, they don’t get any more joy being left out vs being in a crate
