Do any of you guys know of a personal trainer in Baton Rouge who is skilled at teaching the convention deadlift and the low bar squat?

Neal Dakmak at Dakmak Perfermance on industrialplex

Dak or Gary Frank in BR.

And might I ask why? These are pretty specific needs.

I've been squatting for about a year and my shoulder mobility is limited enough that it's hard for me to low bar squat.
As for the deadlift, I have a long torso and it feels like it's hard for me to get a neutral spine during my set up. I've started doing Romanian deadlifts to increase my hamstring strength and mobility. I just want to do it as safe as possible because I feel like a beast after doing deadlifts. I'm 42 and 10 years post herniated disc.

Look up Matt Bruce out of red stick crossfit

I second the Bruce rec.
But in honest it seems like you know the problems you're having. There is vast info on the webs for these things. You can look up mobility ppl like KStarr, Donnie Thompson, Quinn Henoch, and Chris Duffin.
Might even wanna try the online coaching route with Silent Mike, Travis Mash, Brandon Lilly.

No need to pay someone
Look around your gym at guys already doing it and ask them to show you
Most won't mind
I do sumo deadlift so I couldn't help you, but my old lifting partner does conventional and he always gives advice when asked

I don't know if Hatch is going to be big on low bar or deadlifting, he will have u oly lifting on point though.
Also, I think Paul is out the game.

Sumo for life
I was taught sumo
Never did conventional
I am told you can no longer do sumo deadlifts at national powerlifting meets
Guess that means I'm retired from national meets

Most people I see doing deadlifts do them incorrectly. I think Bodybuilding.com has instructional videos

Very True
Same goes for squats
I helped a guy with his deadlifting form last month
He wanted to learn
I showed him both sumo and conventional
Serious lifters will help you out with your form
They know the consequences of bad form
I still say ask a serious lifter instead of paying $60+ an hour on a trainer
