I went in there Saturday to get some things for the car and saw the sign saying 40% off and asked why the big sale. The guy in there told me that they are closing off the retail side of the building and only going to concentrate on the repair side.

He said they are losing sales to on-line shopping and the company decided to shut down their retail parts business at that location.

So, if anyone needs parts, accessories, etc., it is on sale and they will shut down that part of the business by May of 2020.

Seriously, who doesn't? I just ordered a set of drilled and slotted rotors and brake pads last night. Probably saved $350 over in-town pricing.

How does that work? Do you just take the bus until your Amazon alternator arrives?

What if it's defective? That's pretty common.

Better late than never. Oh, and the place was so empty on Saturday around noon I could have fired a shotgun and not hit anyone.

Don't worry, there are lots of parts and accessories to be had.

You drive your other car/truck. Most people drop their car off at a shop for a day or two for an alternator replacement. Do they ride the bus? Rock Auto/Amazon will overnight parts if your willing to pay for it.

If I need a part right away, I buy at the local stores. But many, if not most, repairs can wait a couple of days.

Rock Auto has different levels of parts, all from pretty reputable companies, from economy parts (what you get at Autozone), standard replacement, and upgrades.

I’ve gotten lots of parts on line and saved a bundle. I can’t say they’ve always been perfect, and I have had to return a couple, but the same is true for the local shops.

Overall, the quality has been superb and the price very cheap.

Occasionally, I’ve gotten a local shop to price match a part from Rock Auto if it’s the exact same manufacturer and part.

People buy parts from pep boys?

Didn't even know they had that as an option. Never actually been to one because any quote for maintenance I've ever gotten was almost as bad a dealer fixing it.
