People who watch Soap Operas
How is watching soap opera's different from watching any other drama tv show, or any tv series for that matter?
FWIW, I use to record and watch The Young and The Restless for a long long time. Started watching when I was a kid, because during the summers I use to watch them with my mom, and it just became a show I was interested in. I don't anymore because I just got tired of the same song and dance. The Stories have really gone to shite.

My wife is a hospice nurse who spends a lot of time in the nursing homes, and damn near every room has Y&R on TV when she goes in there.

Back in the day, my MawMaw, rest her beautiful soul, had one hard fast rule..."your arse better be outside playing or quite as a mouse when her "story" was on...As the World Turns... Her and my Aunts would be slinging some Italian words that must have been inappropriate for us.

I sat down for a couple of shows of The Young and the Restless with my mom years ago, and she explained a little of all that was going on and a little of the history. God damn absurd. I had heard people making fun of soaps and thought that they were exaggerated. They aren't.

I was hooked on The Young and The Restless for a while in College
My mom got me hooked on that shite when I was in HS. When I went to college, I didn't have a TV so couldn't watch. But no problem, when I went back home for summer or Xmas break, I'd watch a couple of days and be all caught up. It's amazing how slowly those plots move.

That's because it is the same plots over and over and over.
