People who try to sell stuff online for absurd prices

What can be done about these people?
The people who will try to sell Madden 2012 for 20 bucks when it's 99 cents at GameStop.
The people who try to sell their used mattress for 500 bucks.
The people who say, I bought this 5 years ago for 300 bucks but you can have it for 250 if you pick it up today!
I say round them up and have them break rocks in the hot sun.

Over the years I've figured out its usually a dude who doesn't really want to sell, but his wife made him list it.

I browse Craigslist to laugh at the ridiculous prices like I browse the racks of cables and other accessories at Best Buy.

Some people will pay any ridiculous price for stuff online. This the prevalence of high prices on used crap.

Someone didn't pay attention in ECON 101...

Wow, you must have no life is you really spend time and enjoy doing that.

People selling golf clubs on Craigslist or Nextdoor are major offenders of this. 20 year old club set/bag for $100 when the entire thing is worth maybe $5.

I wonder about this, too.
I figure people who buy these items are old people who don't know how to use the internet or people who have really strange purchasing obstacles.

How timely a thread. I had recently emailed a seller on eBay and mentioned that his price was posted a couple of decimals off. Instead of $10.00 he posted $1000 for the item. $10.00 was an average on this item among many sellers. The guy emailed me back and said he was selling at $1000 and it was not a mistake. Okie dokie mah man!

This reminds me of the "Ticket Exchange " where people get mad that you sell tickets for a higher price then they think you sell them for. How about I sell things for what I think I can get . And usually do.
Probably the same people that can't understand why they can't buy a house on the lakes for $250,000
Never understood this.

Interesting. I always assumed it was just clueless people in small towns trying to sell for the price they saw at the pawn shop or whatever, but that makes a ton of sense.

Might as well round up all the Pawn Shops out there too.
probably half the people who list stuff so high are just trying to do what any Pawn Shop would do basically.
well.. maybe more than half.

I agree. People trying to sell old furniture or TVs are the worst. You can buy a new one for less than they're asking.

It's a great new invention, man. Called the Free Market. What you do is you don't buy from them so they are incentivized to stop doing what they're doing in order to get your money.
Crazy, huh?

Neighbors on Nextdoor are definite offenders. I get a chuckle at how much they think their old crap is worth. Cheapskates trying to get $100 for things they should leave on the curb. Trashy.
