People who teach over seas, tell me your experience/programs you used?

Bit of my resume:
- 4 year teacher
- masters in elementary education
- masters in leadership and curriculum
looking at working overseas either during the summer or full-time, what programs are the best?

I've heard that Dept of Defense schools are a pretty sweet deal if you can get on with them in Italy, Germany or Japan. I don't know anything about the teaching jobs that fall under the private contractor-type/foreign govt label.

I've been thinking of those... currently working on getting nationally board certified but I haven't looked into the requirements either.

I read that as "overseers" at first. Was wondering wtf.

I deal with tons of Air Force families in my public school on the Gulf Coast and they've never had any complaints about the DoD schools--and they're usually quick to point out any negatives regarding schools.
Eta: Idk if they'd compensate you for your Nat'l Boards like a public school around here would, but it would definitely give you a leg up on the competition.

I taught English in Japan for over 15 years and for the last 5 I have been in teacher recruitment, so here is what you need to do before leaving.
--Make sure you have a proper visa that will allow you to work in the country that you plan on going to.
--If possible, find universities or English Language Schools that will hire you and sponsor your visa before ever leaving. Google is your friend here.
--If you want to teach at DOD schools, get hired while in the states. Then you'll be eligible for a cost of living allowance that local hires are not eligible for. This can amount to thousands of dollars.
--Universities are the best gigs so if you can find one to hire you...you're golden. As a full timer, you can easily make 8K a month here in Japan.
If you decide to come to Japan and you have the proper visa and you need some part time work, contact me and I'll hook you up with something that will hold you over until you find some full time work.

I taught in Korea for four years. I only intended to be there for one, so that will tell you how much I enjoyed it. The ladies are beautiful. The students are fun. It's an opportunity to travel, and see Asia. Amazing experience.

Not a teacher but my kids went to the International School of Anerdeen. (Scotland). Great school and the teachers there loved it.

I ran into a guy in China who was over there teaching math. He was in a poorer city so low cost of living. They provided him with visa, airfare, insurance, fully furnished apartment, and $2000 USD a month.
He seemed to love it

So after applying to a few places (namely Italy, Dubai, Greece, and Germany) I've learned they all want me to have TEFL/TESOL certification.... looking into this I wonder why. Just seems like a money grab really and the pay most places offer is less than what I could make here.
