My nanny set up a GoFundMe so she could go see her "dying Grandmother". I felt bad for her because after a week she only had like $10 so I just paid for everything and gave her a week off.

The next day she was posting pics and bragging about all the toys her kid has and her Grandma is still alive.

I'm such a sucker.

She isn't my nanny anymore though.

I think it's trashy AF, but I even think it's sketchy when I see people I went to high school with begging for money for mission trips so maybe I'm just a dick.

I mean look, a fool and his money are soon parted. If someone wants to donate to this crap, thats their problem.

But yes, it is trashy as hell to ask others to fund a vacation.

But not quite as trashy as a gender reveal party. Now THAT shite has to stop

Don't buy shite you can't afford. Vacations are not necessary to live and are a luxury. People don't understand that no..you don't NEED a HD tv, iPhone and cruises to survive. Those are rewards for success not necessities.

How about the families pulling in $200k+ asking for donations to send their kids on expensive trips for school? Boggles my mind people give in to that shite.

Next best thing IMO... Setting up her own account so she can go on vacation... That's pathetic...

Come tell that to my bosses. I get rewarded with more work for success.

I set up one asking for help with cancer treatments. I did not ask for (or set a goal for) a fraction of the costs though.

That's a bit different. That is literally life or death.

If my close friends did this, I would 100% donate to help.

Very very different scenario man. I have no problem with this honestly. It's like choosing to donate to St. Judes or for your buddy who just wants a new luxury car imo. One is much different than the other. There will be people attempting to abuse a good system

I have never donated to a "Go fund me".
I donate to causes not organized by the recipient all the time.
There's just something shitty about asking for it yourself.

The best was the guy who set up a joke GoFundMe for help making potato salad and raised like 100k.

That wasn't GoFundMe, that was kickstarter.

I always see the same kids with buckets trying to collect money on the corner of North Foster and Goverment. Kids been working to get basketball jerseys for the past year. What's sad is their parents sitting on the sidewalk smoking cigarettes with a sign saying "we need jerseys".
