People who set up Go Fund Me accounts to pay bills--trashy or no?

I have a friend on Facebook who set up a go fund me account to help pay her January rent so she can go on vacation. She set up a goal of $2k. People are actually donating money.
Is this trashy or not?

I know people who set them up for medical conditions. I don't donate because I know them and see that they basically set it up to continue their lifestyle instead of sacrificing to get through the hard time.

I have a friend who set up a GoFundMe account for her daughter's braces.
I set up one asking for help with cancer treatments. I did not ask for (or set a goal for) a fraction of the costs though.
