While I don't back in because I know how to drive, there is logic in keeping the pivot point (front wheels) out in the area with the most room to work for as long as you can parking and getting them there as soon as you can leaving rather than putting and keeping the pivot point in the actual space for most of the time while parking

That is exactly why forklifts which are designed to turn in cramped areas steer with the rear wheels.

Oh my. I see vehicle design is not one of your strengths. Consider it history so maybe you'll be interested enough to figure this one out.

OP is downright wrong!!!

The way I see it, you either back in or you back out. Either way you could hold up traffic. Backing in is much safer and easier when leaving (your view when leaving isn't obstructed by the cars next to you)

You should try it sometimes!

mind blown

I like to see two open spots and just pull in so it looks like I backed in...win/win

Yep but thinking about it the turning wheels are not the pivot point - the non turning are so pivot point for cara is rear and for warehouse forklifts the front.

Look at it this way. You either have to wait for someone when they are backing in, or wait for them when they are backing out. There's no difference.

ETA: I'm not talking about oil field or plant workers. I don't know what kind of bullshite policy your employer enforces. I'm talking specifically about a general parking lot at either a commonplace business (e.g. supermarket, retail store, etc.) or even at LSU.

I back in all the time. Now I see busybodies like you hate it, I'll remember to do it even more frequently.

Exactly. Usually when I'm leaving I am in a bigger hurry, so pulling straight out instead of backing out is much safer.

Actually backing in is safer if you're saying they're the same

They taught that at smith driver academy

This is the same doucher who started a thread just to bitch about how selfish his wife's family was for wanting to go to a pizza place for dinner instead of somewhere that would serve him a salad and how he shouldn't have to go.

I prefer they back in other than leave a trailer hitch hanging out in the drive lane.
