A lot of ignorant people in this thread.
Scratches in the clear coat are unavoidable, no matter whether you take it through a car wash, or hand wash it yourself, no matter how many buckets or microfiber clothes you use. The ONLY thing you can do is minimize the amount.
Hell you get scratches in the clear coat just by driving around.

So, the majority of people state that there are safer methods than automatic car washes, and you bounce in to tell us we're ignorant bc you can only minimize defects and not eliminate them?

My truck is black. I go through the car wash sometimes when I don’t have time to hand wash it myself. It’ll survive.

It would kill you to watch the Bentley’s go through the local car wash over here. 911s, Gran Turismos, etc. it’s crazy.
Thing is, the folks doing this are fricking truly loaded. As in 100s of millions and up. These cars are drops in the bucket.
