seems like staying home would be the way to relax. I go places to do stuff. If I don't want to do stuff, I don't go anywhere.
Yeah, you’re right- relaxing on a beach in Aruba or in a lodge in Aspen is exactly the same as relaxing on your front porch in Opelousas after you cut your grass.

I think his point is that if you want to sit by a body of water drinking beer and reading a book, you don't need to drop $3k on airfare and hotels. Just drive over to the nearest pool/lake/beach.
Personally, I don't care how people use their vacations. Mark Twain once wrote about the difference between how American Christians and German Christians approached the Sabbath. He noted that American Christians tended to take the literal interpretation of "day of rest" and spent the day sitting around, eating, and visiting family. Whereas Germans had a more figurative interpretation and spent Sundays doing whatever it was that refreshed them. If they spent their workweeks cooped up behind a desk, then spending Sunday exercising and doing invigorating things was truly "restful."
Same thing with vacation. Do whatever it is that refreshes/invigorates you.
The only thing I can't understand are people who travel somewhere, but don't leave their hotel room except to eat. I mean, at least go explore the area and see what there is to do!

Then I have good news for you. You will never visit ancient Rome, or the Louvre in Paris, or walk around London, or see the Athens Acropolis, or the pyramids of Giza, or Machu Picchu.
None of this is exerting. I’m talking about people who go on vacation and do shite like bungee jumping or shite like that. Visiting cool places can be and is relaxing.

My vacations and extended weekends always have some relaxation involved but I typically need a vacation from my vacation.
I live life hard.

I do both depending on where we are at. I do think the whole I have to explore and mingle with the locals talk is a little gay. I don’t think doing it is gay, just the constant talk on TD about it is. The locals don’t wanna deal with you, they stay away from tourist for a reason for the most part, they don’t want you mingling with them or bothering them. It doesn’t matter how someone chooses to enjoy their vacations, many times having kids lessens all the “adventures” you can go on.
ETA: And just to piss off people even more, we go to 30A and drink beer on the beach. Deal with it

No guarantee you get that chance.
Take advantage of life now.

Dude live and let live!! I go to Damascus Syria and explore and talk with the locals, you can even watch them making tacos in the front yard and eat with them. Then I go to Japan and help the farmers pull tobacco just to share a smoke. Then I go to Mexico and visit with the cartels and we eat Poboys!! I’m authentic and cultured
