How cringe is it when someone from the burbs or city decides to go country and adopt an accent to go along with their new camo outfits and dual wheeled pick trucks? Yeesh
I've seen it first hand and its kind of weird...wreaks of "give me attention".

I have definitely developed some sort of accent just based on what people from out of town tell me. I don't even notice it, but no one told me I had an accent when I was younger.

You mean like most male "country" artists these days?

Do you know of a better way to pick up redneck country girl sluts who try to look like Jessica Simpson?

We had a contractor we work with take myself and a couple of other guys in our office on a hog hunt this past December in west Texas. It was some redneck arse shite, and fun as hell, but the fun was diminished by a kid that is only a year or two out of school. This kid grew up in the hardcore burbs of OKC, went to Oklahoma, and, from what i came to understand at the beginning of the trip, hadn't shot a gun before. But dear lord did this kid morph into the most insufferable fake Oklahoma country hick I have ever seen. The accent made nails on a chalkboard appealing, and he didn't shut up the entire time we were there. Everyone remembers the excitement of the first hunt when they were growing up, and I get the kid was excited, but man was this kid the worst. I kept hoping one of the hogs was just stunned and got up to charge the cocky little bastard and shut him up.

Not as bad as a woman who develops a Cajun accent over night.

I have a friend who is originally from Wisconsin and speaks like you would expect someone from Wisconsin to speak. A while back, he started dating this trashy girl from Beaumont and soon after that he started to develop a twangy accent. One day I got his voice mail and his message sounded like a completely different person. He eventually broke up with the Beaumont Belle and returned to his normal self but we still give him a hard time. He's been in Texas for 15-20yrs and had never developed an accent before or since.
