We've had serious discussions about it and that's where it leads. I'm more flexible on the whole thing only because I think that it's not unreasonable to assume that I'll be more open to the idea in my mid-30's (I'm 29 now). But that's just a guess. But there's also the chance that I hit 35 and I'm still not intrigued by the idea of raising a child. All my friends have children. It doesn't make me want them more. I don't hate kids, but it's just not something I want. I like traveling, reading, being in the gym, playing piano, and other random shite (like Animal Talk threads). I have interests but they have nothing to do with kids. I just bought a 90k car that I had been looking forward to for like a year now. That's what I'm into. I don't think to myself "man I wish I had a kid right now." If my interests don't change in 5 years then so be it. If my interests change then we'll see, but I'm okay with the idea of it never happening.

My wife on the other hand is not open to it at all. There are numerous reasons for that but her career is probably the biggest. She's the most career-driven person I know. And she's in a field competing with other attorneys (men) who don't have to miss time for pregnancy and everything else that comes with motherhood. And that's just one part of it for her. I honestly don't see her wanting to be a mother.

I take as few pictures as I possibly can. The wife wanted to send Christmas cards so I let her have her fun. Thank God for iPhone portait mode though. We had a friend take them in our back yard

No issue with them until they try to provide advise on kids or parenting. Then, frick em.

I love how parenting is the one subject that you have to have direct experience in to have an opinion on.

And if we want to get technical, those people were kids once raised by parents. You dont think they can use their experience being raised by said subject to have opinions on good versus bad parenting?

I think parents are just super insecure and worried about someone telling them they suck at that job

They can have an opinion on it. The post you responded to was referring to giving advice. Experience is definitely helpful if you're giving advice.

People cant grasp this.

All my friends with kids are basically tied down from doing anything with their friends. It takes weeks and sometimes months in advance like a crawfish boil to have people get together. My friends without kids I could call right now and say hey man lets go grab a beer and shoot the shite.

Most of their houses are a mess. Well at least a mess to me. I give them shite about it and they just tell me its impossible to keep clean. Dude you build a 300k house and its embarrassing to walk into on a whim before they can 'clean it'.

Who said we wanted them to have kids? I just commented they are typically self centered people. They would rather spend their time and money on themselves and die a lonely death all alone.

Their choice.

Eh, I really think it depends on what they are asking. I'm not a parent so I have no clue on the best way to approach homework and shite like that. But I always hated when people on here would attack me with "you aren't a parent" when I would post something based on my years as a peds nurse caring for kids and babies. Like you have to pass a baby through your vagina to know the right dose of tylenol for a 3 year old or the best way to swaddle a baby.

I think we've talked about this before Pecker

Or you and someone else did

Anyway, just playing the odds, you're probably going to have kids. But you're in the position to know what'll happen. I'm just giving you shite.

I will say that working in law I've seen this scenario a few times. I'm in the same boat as far as SO career goes, but mine would gladly trade a partnership for being a stay at home mom at this point. Of course, I've seen that play out differently too (career driven professional women convinced they want to drop it all for family life and end up going to back to work within a couple of years).

I usally accepted advice from other parents. I ignored advice from people without experience, for good reason. They are clueless

See my wife is the same way, but her company has no problem giving leave. She just doesn't want to right now.

I'm 29 and she's 25 so there's no rush.

Maybe they just don't want to do shite. The window where kids actually prevent you from doing things is pretty short. My kids are teens. I can go hang out somewhere any time I want. It does come in handy as an excuse if I don't want to hang out with someone, though.

We went out for brunch Saturday at like 10 and ended up bar hopping and getting home around 8 to continue hanging out with some friends.

Can't do that shite on a whim with kids
