It doesn’t. The people arguing for having kids seem pathetic and sad. Glad I’m in the other group.

How about this? People can do whatever they want with their life.. If it doesn't affect yours then don't worry about it?
everyone one of you post in this thread is about how other people raise their kids and how you just dont get it....
It seems like you really care about what other people do with their kids

I have provided a stable home environment for them and continue to make it better with goals that I set and achieve. In ways they have made me better, but I can't help but think how awesome my life would be if I were single, and didn't have kids, and how some of those same goals could have been accomplished years ago.

I'm just being honest.

It doesn’t
Really?

that would have made my decision on trying to have children for me right then and there
I think you would be a wonderful mother. You just need a bigger applicator, to get the potion all the way to where it needs to be.
I am old but if my wife dies before me I will volunteer.
Kidding on all points except the good mom part.
ETA: Really Nurse? A downvote? That was funny.

My sister grew up in the same environment as I did. Stable, healthy relationship with my parents. Doesn't want to have kids, but I do.
One of my wife's student's parents had a terrible time growing up. Abused and dirt poor. Has 4 kids and wants more.

Would you prefer me to be knocked up out of wedlock and letting you pay for my kids?
I was knocked up out of wedlock, and I'm the only person thats ever paid for my kid, family and father included. not everyone fits that stereotype.
That being said, I dont want anymore, and dont want to date men with young children. I busted my arse raising him, I dont have any desire to start over. That may make me selfish, but I dont really care.

I enjoy leaving whenever the frick I want to for a long Saints/LSU weekend, I enjoy going on last minute overnight fishing trips without having to worry about who is watching a kid, I enjoy traveling, I enjoy sleeping in sometimes, and I enjoy having money in my bank account. Kids would frick up everything above. Hell a dog is enough of a pain in the arse and all we have to do for him is leave enough food and water out. Everyone I know with kids has to pull off a minor miracle to get away from them for a trip, no thanks.
This is one thing I do not get at all. If I was a male that didnt want to have kids, I have no idea why I would want to in turn be married......
Having kids is not the only reason to be married, that is not the point I am making. But if I went the I dont want kids route, I sure as hell wouldnt go the married route

we agree a lot in this thread
"I want my independence and I am too selfish for kids"
but
"I also want to make a commitment to another human in which I make sacrifices"
strange

Everyone I know who didn’t have kids have major regrets around 60. You stop focusing on consuming, and want to leave a legacy but realize you are ending your DNA. My aunt and uncle bird dog my parents around because they don’t have any one to spend holiday’s, etc with.

We all got here through a miraculous sequence of events. The elements of the universe lined up just right to allow the creation of our species. Our ancestors overcame famine, wars, disease, etc in order to pass the torch from generation to generation.
And now they are forgotten, pretty much every single one of them. My dog is here because her ancestors all smashed too, i guess im ruining something beautiful by having her fixed.
It seems like you just wanna feel important Jon Ham, im sorry your kids didn't fill that need for you so now u have to convince yourself there is some greater spiritual meaning that you are fulfilling
