There’s people who look at something and are addicted. How do these people get addicted after one shot?

I’ve known plenty of people to only once do some heroin, meth, cocaine, etc and not have the urge to do it again.

Are people just genetically predisposed to be addicts?

Most people are weak. It's just getting worse.

You know a lot of people that just dabble in meth and heroin? Well alright then.

A fair amount of scientific evidence says yes.

Not a lot I know a couple who’ve tried meth once and never had the urge to do it again. Another 1-2 who did heroin once and that was it.

Was talking to a co-worker about this today.
I am literally just the opposite.
There is not one single thing that I "have" to have.

It’s a victim mentality. These addicts have all manner of people saying it isn’t their fault. It isn’t their fault. Addiction is a disease. It’s 100% your fault if you try heroin/meth/crack. Even once.

Yes.

In some cases, it is their brain chemistry. Others, it is their personality. Sometimes, it is both.

What about if you try vodka? Alcohol has probably ruined more lives than meth or crack

I’ll be the first to admit I have a very addictive personality. Luckily I learned this at a fairly young age and was smart enough not to proceed with that lifestyle. Cant speak for everyone but my guess is it has a lot to do with willpower and genetics probably does play a role also. I’m strong enough to say no but not strong enough to stop when I start.

Huh? You can be an addict without having a victim mentality. Sure, a lot of addicts develop victim mentalities but it's not necessarily the cause of an addiction.

Not that simple. Addicts have fricked up brain chemistry. Their brain thinks it needs the the stuff to survive. Sometimes it actually does if it's a physical addiction.

Breaking addiction isn't a simple matter of "why don't they just stop". If it was that easy, there would be no addicts.

Who have you known that got addicted after one time? How do you know them, and how do you know they got addicted after one time?

Or was this just a bullshite phrase to start a thread?

Most people do t roll out of bed one day and think, beer is good, weed is aight, now for a shot of heroin.

I got addicted to opiates via prescribed pain killers a cpl decades ago when the 'good' OC was around.

From there it just kinda progressed.

I was always able to dabble with every other drug and not be addicted until I started taking OCs daily. Which is what a lot of these people doing the lawsuits are claiming. I believe there may be some merit.
