My dog really enjoys going. That’s why I bring him.

Because a lot of people don’t like shopping with animals?

All the things to not like about this generation, and this is one of your least favorite?

And if your dog is store friendly.

Cool labs that walk up to people that visibly want to pet them? Great.

Dipshit dogs that bark at everything or piss all over in excitement? No. Know your dog.

I judge anyone who goes to lowes over Home Depot. Home Depot is by far superior.

If the venue allows it then fine but people who bring their dogs into H-E-B or restaurants crave attention.

How many times do these animals even get near you?

Earlier this week I came to a stop sign in a nice neighborhood, I looked over and saw a woman walking with a Border Collie. This dog wasn't on a leash, the woman was using both hands to carry a bag of groceries...but the dog was no shite carrying a small paper bag and a Frisbee in his mouth. Just keeping pace beside the woman.

I was so impressed that he was pulling his weight in the situation, had to watch it for a bit. Got honked at over it.

Well there are regular threads on the OT that provide evidence that people suck so it seems very reasonable to treat a dog like a person in terms of some companionship and enjoyment.

So what if I have a horse that I love, should I be able to bring it too?

Would be a boss move to go into a store and shop around on a horse.

My bat-shite crazy ex wanted to take her dog everywhere. The first night she stayed at my house she brought her dog. Just as we were getting into the nasty he jumps in bed with us and strays (she didn't want to neuter him until he had enjoyed sex!)

She always wanted to eat at "dog friendly" restaurants (meaning outside - weather usually chilly nine months a year in Asheville). When we ate at human restaurants she always brought him food because "he expected that".

When we went to a movie, I would have to park at the edge of the parking lot, put down a blanket and water for Cena, and tie him to the car. Even then she would usually leave the movie about half way through to check on him. (She would have arranged with the ticket taker to return - then ask me what happened while she was away).

Irrelevant, they’re animals. They don’t belong in stores with the exception being maybe petsmart. There’s no reason to drag them out into society where they’re probably scared sh!tless from all the commotion no matter what their "dog parents" convince themselves they’re feeling. And there’s people out there who are irrationally scared of dogs or other animals for one reason or another, seems wrong to bring them into stores with them. And then of course those highly allergic.

All in all though they’re animals and don’t belong in a civilized human society. We aren’t living in Middle Ages London
