Just because you have a Louisiana ID and work in Texas doesn't mean you have to pay LA income taxes. It's all about location of work regardless of your ID. I did it for several years.

Get to maintain that Resident Fishing and Hunting License.
Just buy a LifeTime and be done with it but I think LDW&F is getting rid of that.

ID Is not required to file in TX.
What does what states require ID to efile have to do with what states you are subject to tax in?

It's not as simple as yes, but yes you do after factoring in tax paid to other states.

Wrong

No it isn't, just having an ID doesn't mean you are claiming residency for tax purposes.
You are "supposed" to update your ID within some number of days but if you don't you aren't subject to another state's income tax.
I've had an Alabama ID for my whole life, including the past 8 I've been working and paying taxes in Louisiana.

if you have a Louisiana ID, Louisiana is going to assume you have residence in the state and as such subject to state income tax.
Try not to pay it and let me know how it works out for you
I didn’t have a TX ID for 2 years after I moved. Louisiana didn’t do a damn thing. You are dumb.

Resident taxpayers who are required to file a federal individual income tax return are required to file a Louisiana income tax return, IT-540, reporting all of their income. If a Louisiana resident earns income in another state, that income is also taxable by Louisiana. A temporary absence from Louisiana does not automatically change your domicile for individual income tax purposes. As a resident taxpayer, you are allowed a credit on Schedule G for the net tax liability paid to another state if that income is included on the Louisiana return.

And again, if you have a Louisiana ID, the state is going to assume residency.
So do you want to continue to look like a moron or are you going to exit the thread like your post never happened?

About as big an epidemic as systemic racism.
My question is why do you care? Does it affect you personally?

I wouldn't advertise tax fraud on a public forum.

I don't, really, just an observation.
I guess we, as the OT, are now in favor of giving money to the government that we shouldn't have to.

Cite the specific tax code that says you file taxes based on your ID and not where you live. I’ll wait.
Posted on 7/19/21 at 3:15 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
The mental gymnastics Texans play to blame all their troubles on Louisiana is so laughably sad.
