It'll certainly be a trend here in NE Louisiana when Century leaves. People are already being fired.

. That is incorrect. At age 65, you receive a $25,000 homestead exemption towards your school tax. You are still paying property taxes.

Yeah my property tax is 9800 here...but I figured it out at my income and I’m still losing 3k with state income losses in Texas vs Louisiana. Still moving.

Yes, still paying property taxes, but a good chunk is for the schools.

I have always heard TX is friendly towards retirees. , Social Security retirement benefits, pension income, retirement account income and all other forms of retirement income are not taxed at the state level in Texas.

Scruffy left 5 years ago and won’t go back.

There is no benefit to living in LA.

Well young people like big cities and that’s understandable. New Orleans metro is up to 1.3 million right now. While people are fleeing some areas New Orleans is starting to really boom. Some states only have one place to go to.

Best decision I've ever made was moving my family from Baton Rouge to Boulder 5 years ago. Yes, the cost of living here is higher than Louisiana, but the pay is more than I or my wife made in BR. The public school system is great here and the overall quality of life is so much better here. I don't miss the 6 months of unrelenting heat and humidity of Louisiana summers a bit.

You don't realize just how screwed up Louisiana is until you move out of it.

Lot of things I don't particularly care for in La BUT I'm not a quitter & won't leave for greener pastures.

My job brings me to Ark, MS, Ala and TN and I make great $.

All good, to each his own.

Like I've posted in this thread already. My job wouldn't pay me more than 10-15% above what I make now outside of the major tech markets like San Jose, DC, NYC, Austin or San Francisco.

The worst part is that I loathe big cities too. I want to live in Bozeman or Asheville. I'd rather live in the sticks than in some big city. BR is too big for me

It’s more than a feeling. I left Baton Rouge for Dallas. Most my friends from LSU have moved away from Louisiana.
