What?

The good news? You're only 100% wrong in your approach here. If you ever want to get ahead, you have to put in the time. I tell my people that we pay them salary to do a job, not work a shift. If they want to disappear at five every day, they need to get on an assembly line.

Not necessarily a goal right now, without going into too many details.

That's cool as long as your boss knows that you do not want to be a part of the future so he can make sure to spend his limited time and resources working to develop someone else. And don't cry because you make so little. You accepted the job.

That's how Millennials think Cades, deal with it all the time

nah I did the sales rat race for 8 years....I met enough people in my industry to go into business for myself...I wasnt happy just passing out coozies and T-shirts for a living.

LL is too young to understand all this grown-up business stuff anyway.

Because there are so many jobs paying more in my field. /s
I'm fine with what I make. I live on it fine.
But because it is so little and I do not wish to "move up" in the sense that I am swamped with work that isn't in my wheelhouse, I disconnect when I go home.
I didn't say I expect to be paid more. I said as long as I do what I do and get paid what I do, I will go home and live my personal life.
Not any different than an average state worker or something.
This is probably not my forever job anyway, but regardless, my position is not one they even want someone in the "future".. as far as I've seen.
Looks to me like they change it up often. Maybe they just don't wish to have someone advance to where the deserve more... or whatever.
There have been 4 different people in my position in 3 years.. two of which were moved to other parts of the company. One of which they helped get a new job. One of which they just got rid of when she started looking for new jobs at the office
If I remain where I work now, there is only one other position I'd want to switch to. And that one is one that I've been told many times I might be moved to anyway.

We uNderstand. You weren't really in sales if you were passing out coozies.
Posted on 3/16/15 at 12:32 pm to Tiger Ryno
Well, I also passed out pens and pads with my company logo on it...

Which you chose.

Then don't gripe about how little you make.

You sort of insinuated that you weren't paid enough to care.

If you are setting the bar at state worker productivity levels, I'm pretty sure I've heard all I need to.
Sad part is, you seem to be a fairly intelligent girl (except for the whole booty play thing, and your blatant gender bias.) You should know better.

Oh shut up
You've spent this thread twisting everything I've said. There were 6 pages of plenty of people agreeing that they refuse to be glued to their work when they're at home. I swear some of you just wait for particular posters to come around.
I was told 3 days ago that I've done the best job in this position they've ever seen. I am doing better than fine at my job.
I do not work in a field that requires work at home beyond special projects. The only reason I even GET emails at home is because my sweet boss loves what he does and sends me 10ish "remind me to tell you about.." Emails.
He also CCs me in every email he sends or receives. Which is why I have about 30 each morning.
Only 1-2 require actual action the next day.
It's not that I'm not paid enough to care. It's that I purposely didn't go into a field that would take away my personal life completely. It is lower paying, but for me personally .. Time >>>>> money
