second off we don't want kids we don't even know running around our reception
Put adult reception to follow on invitations. I let my wife plan the wedding/reception and this was my only requirement. Pissed off her brothers that had a bunch of little kids, but so be it.

Some would call it rather rude to go around bragging about your party to folks with no intention of inviting them.
agreed... I haven't said a single unprompted word about it...I put in the PTO for my honeymoon and word spread around the office along with the assumption that everyone was invited

Schedule it the weekend of a LSU-SEC home game.

Weddings are supposed to be a festive occasion. If you want to treat it like some outpatient surgery to remove a wart, go the court house.
Lighten up Francis.

we really didn't think we needed this, but obviously did. We planned on having two kids there...the ring bearer and flower girl. Most of our close friends have kids, but they all just automatically found babysitters and are just coming... I don't know maybe the invite that only included their names was the clue there.

Yeah, you always need this, sadly.
Weddings aren’t for kids, but trashy parents will bring them unless you tell them not to.
You have to treat the invites as if they’re going to mentally handicapped people. Spell everything out.

Scott, calm down. Write in coherent sentences. Post pics of your soon to be betrothed's bush.

....the point of this post. The trash in our lives has shown itself.
also a lot of these responses have given me the laugh I needed this morning... The OT did not disappoint

You seem smart. I'm sure you'll handle this intelligently and with class.

we put "adult only reception" on the invite to avoid any of these shenanigans. plus I dislike kids so it was nice

The only details a guy needs to know about the wedding is when, where, and what time. Follow this rule and the next time you get married will go much smoother

Don't do it, and we need pics of the fiancee.
